So I’ve finally gotten round to creating the new blogging Instagram page, @JoeOriadeBlogs. Okay, not too creative I admit but @SouthLondonsFinest was taken and frankly this is quite catchy and so much more relevant. Some of the @‘s I’m seeing recently have been so random you’ll swear they’re bots. Following 4,000 accounts and only 52 followers, what kind of ratio is that? I had this random profile (presumably an *ex-girlfriend* a random stalker) always watching my Instagram Stories when my profile was public – oh the days of thirsting for likes. The display pic was a cartoon sketch of a black girl and the bio talking about “Fashion, Make Up, Life”. As flattered as I was to be stalked by a weirdo, the thought of them showing up at my tagged locations made me rethink my online privacy. Turn up unannounced like a Jehovah’s Witness; turn up uninvited like the bailiffs on ‘Can’t Pay Take It Away’.
I might actually start microblogging on the @JoeOriadeBlogs account too (yet another shameless plug). Microblogs are short concise ways of sharing information – like my normal blogs but with less words essentially. The microblogs I post on my Facebook blogging page get more love than my WordPress blogs which makes me conclude that people don’t actually enjoy clicking on hyperlinks. That won’t bode well when I decide to monetise my page and insert ads into every other sentence of my blogs lol. If you won’t click ‘em then I will, I’m tryna’ get paid and buy myself a Canada Goose jacket in time for the winter. And yes, I actually mean Canada goose not that American Pigeon I’m seeing some of you guys flaunting. I wouldn’t even gift that jaunt to my enemies, the material will seep through your skin and change a man’s complexion, them Michael Jackson jackets.
I guess the main aim of @JoeOriadeBlogs (dropped it in again), is to widen my reach to an ever-growing audience. Using a photo and video platform to promote my writing does sound a tad counter-intuitive but recently I’ve seen so many Twitter posts on Instagram that I think I’ll be in good company. Needless to say the wider your reach, the more you’ll find people who disagree with your view point. A while back I wrote a blog entitled “Protein Over Plants”… I think you can guess the gist of the content. Let’s just say I had non-meat eaters at my neck; had me deleting comments and all sorts! Was contemplating joining Wiley’s mum in Cyprus for a bit. Lord knows where they got all that energy from considering the lack of iron and zinc in their diets. Perhaps those falafel and hummus salads have more vitamins than I realised. Hell hath no fury like a vegan scorned.
Hopefully the @JoeOriadeBlogs Instagram page (you see what I’m doing here) will also help with my consistency. I was shocked when I realised I had only posted four times on my WordPress account last year; still more posts than Jesse Lingard had goals so perhaps I shouldn’t feel too bad. The aim is to blog bi-weekly with Instagram posts a bit more regularly but don’t hold me to that though; the last long term commitment I agreed to still has 20 more years until it’s paid off. Also.. life happens! I’m tryna juggle multiple things this year and most certainly the successful ones will get blog-time especially when writer’s block kicks in. So stay tuned, tell a friend to tell a friend. Follow the insta, share it with your friends, your family, your dog, your baby daddy, your nan with the fat ankles, your sh*t barbers that no-one wants to get a trim from; he’s obviously got a lot of time on his hands. Appreciate the support and hope to repay you with above-par content.
